Communication and literacy: What does that look like for students with
complex disabilities, including multiple disabilities, intellectual disabilities,
deafblindness, or autism? Students with complex disabilities are often overlooked
as candidates for literacy instruction. The Communication Matrix Intervention
Modules (CMIM) provide explicit instruction on ways to incorporate literacy and
communication instruction into daily interactions for students with low-incidence
disabilities.
