attend multiple sessions at CEC highlighting the many innovations our members
continue to make in the field of blind and deafblind education. It was an uplifting
reminder that though we may be a small voice in the world of special education,
we are mighty in the message that we share. At the same time, as I begin my role
as president, I also believe it is important to acknowledge the challenges that we
face as professionals and as an organization that remind us that we need to
continue to lift our voices together to ensure the continued strength of our field.
I know that so many of us are being asked to do more with less in ways that
we have rarely experienced before. CEC and DVIDB are no exception to this. At
the same time, I also know that those of us who support professional organizations
such as DVIDB do so because we recognize the significance that participation in
these organizations brings to our roles as VI educators and professionals.
As you read through the amazing articles the authors have contributed to this
edition of the VIDBE-Q, I hope that it serves as a reminder of the value that
information provided by DVIDB through resources such as our online pre-
conference, webinars, involvement with Getting In Touch with Literacy and this
publication provides to you, your colleagues and your students. Consider how you
might contribute to these important resources. I also encourage you to share an
article from VIDBE-Q that you think would be beneficial for one of your students
