VIDBE-Q 2026 Volume 71 Issue 1
On a personal note, I am honored to be rolling into the roe of President of
DVIDB, as I have served as a Director since 2021. In my role as a Director, I
proposed edits to our mission, helped coordinate webinars (DCMP, April 2022),
and served as a reviewer for grants and CEC presentation proposals (Summer
2021, 2022, and 2024). In addition, in fall 2021, I served as the guest editor for the
Division's quarterly publication (http://dvi.uberflip.com/i/1426082-vidbe-q-66-4-
fall-2021/0). For those of you I have not already met, I would like to take this
opportunity to introduce myself.
I earned my doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction, with a concentration in
special education, from Louisiana State University. I also hold a Master of
Education in Educational Psychology, with specializations in special education and
school counseling, and a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies, with a
concentration in special education, both from Texas A&M University. I come to
you with public school teaching experience, five years as the lead special education
teacher and the experience of teaching both resource reading/language arts and
mathematics (grades K-6).
I am currently a Professor of Special Education and Program Coordinator at
East Texas A&M University (ETAMU). Appointed by Governor Abbott, I am
serving in my second term as a Board Member at the Texas School for the Blind
and Visually Impaired (TSBVI). I am also a recipient of the TAER Texas Chapter
