Submission of the Concept Paper for Review
The consensual validation process for the review, alignment and amendment
of the original Teacher of the Deafblind (TDB) and Intervener competency sets
began just over two years ago with the formation of a DVIDB validation team who
agreed to coauthor and submit a concept paper to CEC's Knowledge and Skills
Subcommittee (KSSC) Committee (Parker, 2020). The Division had recently
revised and updated the Teacher of Students with Visual Impairment (TSVI)
standards (Rhoads et al., 2017). Concurrently, the Division recognized the current
DB competencies required updating and realignment with more current literature.
Within CEC, the KSSC, which reports to the Professional Standards and Practice
