licensure. By agreeing to serve as a TVI in Ohio, the TVI Consortium program is well
positioned to build capacity for teachers who are equipped to meet the unique needs of
students with visual impairments. While the consortium model is a rarity for personnel
preparation programs in the nation, the Ohio TVI Consortium can serve as a model of
collaboration among institutions of higher education to prepare educators in low
incidence sensory disabilities. With a cohort of 13 students ready to graduate from the
first year of the program and 20 students accepted into the second cohort, this is truly
an exciting time in Ohio for students with visual impairments.
