When students were learning about parallel and perpendicular lines
along with acute, obtuse and straight angles, pool noodles were used while
cooling off during an afternoon swim. The students positioned their noodles
to show their understanding of different lines and angles after having spent
classroom time reading about them, using protractors to measure angles, and
abstract art activities to display their knowledge about lines and angles. The
lane lines were also used to reinforce parallel lines and the students
positioned their bodies or the noodles to be perpendicular to them. See
