Colorado Chapter of AER (CAER): Colorado has a very active chapter of the Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind/Visually Impaired (AER). Mike Plansker, a TVI and COMS with a metro-area school district, is the current president. CAER offers mini grants to help defray the costs of conference attendance and professional development projects, assists with the annual O&M Conference, and co-sponsors the annual Snowshoe Weekend with CSDB. Fund raising activities just included a White Cane Day tee-shirt design competition with the winning design offered for sale. CAER also offers training opportunities to Colorado teachers with the most recent training focusing on technology. CAER hosts an annual awards banquet to honor individuals for their leadership, commitment, and exemplary practice in the field. ยท http://co.aerbvi.org/ Colorado Department of Education (CDE): For over 40 years, the CDE has held a position for a State Consultant on Blindness/Low Vision. Dr. Tanni Anthony has been in this position for the past 15-plus years. In this role, she plans an annual budget specific to activities for students, families, and service providers. Within the budget are the following activities: (a) annual state conference on blindness/visual impairment; (b) regional low vision evaluation clinics; = 19 CONTENTS
