letters, interview skills, and professional communication while learning to use
accessibility tools, email systems, Microsoft Office applications, and digital
organization systems that support success in both employment and daily life.
Community-based instruction reinforces classroom learning through grocery
shopping, banking, online shopping, public transportation, rideshare instruction,
and employment-focused outings. For example, students participated in mock
interviews with talent acquisition staff from the City of Phoenix and engaged in
professional conversations with City Council members. By embedding
communication, self-advocacy, organization, technology use, and problem-solving
across the curriculum, students repeatedly practice and generalize these skills in
authentic settings.
