VIDBE-Q Volume 67 Issue 4 This question was clarified as meaning whether educational teams, in a minimum of one local system, have agreed upon adding the intervener service by either writing in the term or writing a description of the role that is needed to support the student. Currently, an intervener may be added as a service through the IEP process under supplementary aids and services or as a related service. IEP teams often disagree and do not support writing in a description of the role or using the term 'intervener' on an IEP, and the most often stated reason is that there is no official state or federal recognition. Of particular interest, 3 projects reported that they have partner agencies that support the role of community interveners, who support individuals who are deafblind in their home and community.
