Spring 2012 the Visual Impairment/Deafblindness Program at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. In fact, Cristal White Smith received the Special Education Alumni Award in 2011. The little spare time that Ms. Smith has is dedicated to several different volunteer activities. Not only does she donate time to work in indigant eye care clinics, but she also designed a weekend camp to help local Boy Scouts earn their disabilities badge. According to Dr. Mary Jean Sanspree, ���Her enthusiasm for learning and teaching are superior to others and her dedication to her students is a love of the parents and families she serves.��� It is evident that Cristal White Smith is a role model to all teachers of students with visual impairments. = 14 CONTENTS
